Fort Smith Public Schools is proud to recognize Lyndsey Preshnell, Pre-AP English 10 and AP Language and Composition teacher at Northside High School, as Teacher of the Year. Her dedication to student success and leadership in the classroom truly sets her apart.

Lyndsey places her students' needs first, gathering data on their prior learning to tailor her instruction for their success. She goes above and beyond by offering sessions before and after school, giving students the chance to improve their assignments and master key concepts. A colleague shared, “She creates a space for students to be creative and vulnerable without judgment.”

Lyndsey holds her students to high standards, helping them develop a growth mindset. She encourages them to reflect on their progress and fosters an environment that mirrors the rigor of a college-level classroom.

Lyndsey’s passion for the material and ability to connect Pre-AP English 10 with AP Language and Composition enriches her students’ understanding. She stays current with new teaching strategies and shares insights with her colleagues, making her an invaluable resource to the team.

Beyond the classroom, Lyndsey builds meaningful relationships with students, helping them thrive both academically and socially. She ensures all students feel included and challenged by differentiating instruction, and her classroom serves as an example of equity and inclusivity.
